T his charmingly restored farmhouse with it's traditional stone barn is set amid the foothills of the Pyrenees in a tranquil location, perfect for walking or just relaxing. Arnéguy, on the D933 from St.Jean Pied-de-Port to Pamplona, is on the pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostella and also leads through the historic Pas de Roland. Local activities include canoeing, swimming, horse riding, orienteering, rock-climbing, cycling and fishing. The coast at Biarritz, Hendaye or St. Jean de Luz is around 1 hour's drive.

The accomodation available within this large country house comprises :

  • On the ground floor a large entrance hall takes you into the sitting room and dining suite. A fully equipped separate kitchen leads to a toilet and separate shower room.
  • On the first floor there are four bedrooms, two with double beds and the other two with two singles. There is a separate shower room and toilet.
  • The house is comfortably equipped with oil-fired central-heating, washing machine, dish-washer, TV, Hi.Fi. Video and DVD
  • Outside the house one can sit and eat in the sun or shade enjoying the stunning views of the surrounding hillsides. A barbecue and garden furniture are provided. The house is set in 1.3 ha of grass and woodland.

S ipilinia is one hour's drive from Biarritz, Bayonne and St. Jean de Luz and one and a half hours from Pamplona, Pau and San Sebastian and 3 hours from Bilbao. The nearest airports are at Biarritz, Pau and Bilbao.
The closest towns are St.Jean Pied-de-Port and St. Etienne-de-Baigorry on the French side of the border and Luzaide/Valcarlos and Orreaga/ Roncesevalles on the Spanish side.

The Pyrénées, with its hill-top villages, high peaks and secret valleys, offers an infinite choice of walks, drives, horse or bicycle rides and, in Winter, it's ski resorts are within an hour's drive.

Arnéguy is a quiet frontier village with a few duty-free shops, cafés and bars. For a wider choice, St. Jean Pied-de-Port is just 8 minutes drive away where in summer there is a variety of local entertainment: concerts, plays, folk dancing and the fascinating games of Pelota to enjoy. Arneguy is also the starting point for rafting and kayaking on the River Nive. Wine tastings can be arranged at the vineyards of Irouleguy which are in the neighbouring village. Guided tours can be arranged for those keen to understand the fascinating and various games of Pelota.
